It's Okay To Not Be Okay

Today sucked. If I'm going to be straightforward with you all, then here it is: today was absolute shit. We all have these days when nothing goes our way, we aren't ourselves, or we just feel defeated. This morning I woke up feeling great, not too hungover after an amazing St. Paddy's Day yesterday with my friends, so I was ready to take on this beautiful, sunny Sunday. I went and made myself breakfast, showered and did my hair and makeup, and that's when it hit. I got very anxious out of no where and I could not stop crying. I sat on my bedroom floor, tears running down my face, feeling sorry for myself. After about 15 min, I pulled myself together and I knew I had to go into public because we ran out of toilet paper (lol) and I was the only one available to go get it at the time. Although the tears had stopped, how I felt on the inside was just awful. I knew I did not deserve to feel like this. No one does.

This post isn't meant to make you all feel sorry for me, everyone goes through this. I just want to share with those that go through this a lot, what I do to make myself feel better. Self-care during these tough days is extremely important. Focusing on you is okay. Do whatever it takes to make yourself feel like you again. Watch your favorite movie, read a good book, exercise, listen to songs that make you happy, eat your favorite foods, even talk to someone, or just relax quietly by yourself. Make yourself happy again.

After laying in bed for hours, I decided I've had enough of this feeling sorry for myself thing. The first thing I did was remove my makeup and rinsed my face with some warm water. Next I decided to use a face mask. Face masks can make you feel so refreshing, clean and vibrant. I decided to try Ponds Hydrate + Glow Sheet Mask. Ugh you guys, it was so cooling, refreshing and calming. It has papaya extracts (which, tbh I have no idea what that is), Vitamin B3 and Vitamin E. Highly recommend this mask!

After the mask, I decided to use some rosewater facial mist by Measurable Difference. Something about the scent of roses is so calming to me and the fact that it's hydrating my skin makes me feel good.

I also decided to add some vitamins into the mix, so I picked up some Olly Goodbye Stress gummies with GABA, L-Theanine & Lemon Balm. The GABA is suppose to help you get into a relaxing state of mind to help combat the acute affects of stress (from the bottle). L-Theanine is an amino-acid which works with the brain to help keep you cool (bottle). Lemon Balm is a soothing botanical that helps quiet the mind (bottle). Although, I'm not quite sure yet if they worked, but I'll keep you updated! They taste great so I'll defiantly keep trying them.

It's okay to not be okay, just remember to do what you will feel is best in making yourself happy again. You are worth it. A lot of stress had built up from a lot of things I am dealing with in my life and I think that's why I just broke down today. So I need to talk it out more with the people I trust and who love me, so I don't keep getting this way so often. I have since calmed down and am starting to feel like myself again. Tomorrow is a new day and I have so much to be happy about and thankful for. We all deserve to be happy, so why not do the things that make us feel that way all the time! :)
